This past week I started my first project that is based on the event boundary. I experimented with different colors and textures for the foreground and background and I decided what I would do. I sketched out my design on the canvas and started painting. I am close to finishing the background and put a base layer on some of the foreground. After the critique on Friday, I received some good information on how to improve upon what I did this past week so I can fix some things up this week. I plan to be close to finished by the end of this week and star to create sketches for my second piece of my series.

This past week I experimented with different techniques for the background and foreground of my first piece. I am painting a night sky for the background so I experimented with different color blues, blacks, purples, and whites with different brush techniques. For my foreground I am painting a rocky cliff so I experimented with different reds, oranges, yellows, and blacks also using different techniques. Although I've been practicing, I think I need to improve on the realistic aspect of things. My piece isn't going to be completely realistic, but I don't want it to look fake either. I haven't really done anything like this before so this will be a challenge to me, but if it doesn't turn out the way I want it to, then I will create many more pieces I can choose from instead. This week my goal is to get started on my first piece and possibly come close to finishing.
This past week I made a decision to base my series off of psychological phenomenons and how I would visualize them. I didn't know a lot about this topic, so I spent a good amount of time researching what many of the phenomena were about. From my research, I came up with some good ideas for a few of my projects. I decided that my first art piece is going to be based off of the event boundary, which is when someone walks into another room and forgets what they needed to get or why they went into the room in the first place. I made some thumbnails and played around with the colors that I thought about using, but haven't made any final decisions. This week my goal is to make a rough sketch with the colors and layout finalized, so I will be able to start my first piece as soon as I can.
This past weekend, I came up with idea of creating a series from visualizing concepts or theories based on my interpretation. Things like the event boundary, Mandela affect, time, and space could all be examples of things where I would want to show what I picture them looking like. Based on how much people know about these topics, the human brain will picture them differently.
