'The Series'
In drawing and painting four, the goal of the class is to create a series of 8 quality artworks throughout the semester. Below you can read about my series and see some photos of my works in progress.
Artist Statement
Life has a series of emotions that everyone will experience throughout their lifetime. They are anger, fear, disgust, happiness, sadness, and surprise. The human life cycle can be broken down into many stages such as infancy, childhood, adolescence, early adulthood, middle adulthood, mature adulthood, late adulthood, and eventually death. Color theory and psychology go hand-in-hand when dealing with emotions so my pieces are painted in a monochromatic color corresponding to that emotion. Yellow represents happiness and joy. Blue represents sadness. Green represents disgust. Purple represents fear. Red represents anger. Orange represents surprise. Brown represents a neutral emotion. Black and white represent the absence of emotion.
In my series, each stage of life is paired with a family member and a different emotion. And each piece has been created in a posterized style and finished in acrylic paint. As you see them here, they hang in order of age.
